MARCH ON THE CAPITOL
Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of Boy Scouts

OCTOBER 24, 2009
WRITTEN BY: Thomas, Troop 394 Boy Scout

It was Alex, Joseph, Adam, Adon, Eric D., Cullen, Trevor, Neil, Michael, and Thomas. Paul, Lori, Barbra, Terry, Janice, and Gloria. We started at Raley's Field all lined up and signed in ready to march. We were part of the yellow group. We had our special bags, put our special neckerchies on and had a water each. We were ready. They played a little music while we waited.

Then we were off. First we passed over the I St. bridge. It was really big then as we walked down the road we waved at people. People were also taking pictures and videos. There a pair of window washers in the basket on like the 15th floor that were waving to everyone. It took a good 20-25 minutes to get to the capital were we were divided by groups (colors of our wristband) in front of the building.

First they did the national anthem. The trumpeter was pretty good. We were greeted by a man and he was talking about a guy who was there at the beginning of scouting and had seen it progress over the years and said how happy he was to see that the 100 year mark was coming soon. They also recognized all the eagle scouts that were there by giving them a white hat. Sadly the Governor did not make it due to business. After all the speeches were all over we marched back to the feild for lunch. There must of been thousands of hotdogs made, that's a lot. There were lots of booths throughout the stands that all had to do with scouting. There also was a local band playing while everyone explored the booths. It was all over around 4pm. Then everyone went home.
