Consumnes Rock Climbing
DECEMBER 2007 - Written by Eric, Troop Historian
On December 9th, 6 boys and 2 adults went rock climbing to Cosumnes. When we first started our hands were so cold we couldn’t climb very well or it hurt your hands to climb. Scoutmaster Paul and Evan belayed the first 2 routes. Everyone made it up the first route but only Evan made it up the second. By the time we moved to a different spot almost everyone’s hands were not cold anymore. This time we kind of climbed up a crack but used two walls. It was a very tough route. Only my dad and Nick made it up. My dad, Scoutmaster Paul, and I belayed that route. Ceasar also did a different route that no one else did. He made it to the top. Last we repelled down a cliff which was very fun. We used a figure 8 and many other tools to do it. We also had it on a fireman belay so if we fell Scoutmaster Paul would stop us. To get there we had to do some scrambling and class 4 climbing which we hooked our self in just to be safe. This is what we did on or rock climbing trip to Cosumnes.
