Sunset Beach

MAY 2009 - Written by Thomas, Troop Historian

SEE PHOTOS BELOW
On our May Family trip to Sunset Beach we had 3 families attend. They included Ceasar, Sierra, Erin, Adam, Terry, Susanne, Forest, Deanna, and Thomas.  It was a 5 hour drive to Sunset Beach.  We left Sacramento at 4:30 and arrived at the camp site around 9:30.  As soon as we arrived we started unpacking, we were losing daylight quickly.  When setting up the tents the string to Erin’s tent pole came undone and Sierra had to carefully string them together.  Good thing Sierra was there to help.

Once we had the tents up we started a camp fire.  It took us about 20 pages of paper and 15 matches just to get the fire started.  While we sat waiting for the remaining family to arrive we roasted marshmallows.  When they showed up Ceasar, Sierra and Thomas decided to go to bed.  The next morning we had breakfast. We had oatmeal and bagels with cream cheese YUMMY.  After we finished cleaning up we got ready to head to the beach.  At the beach, Ceasar and Thomas built sand castles.  Ceasar made some really big ones, while Thomas had less luck and his collapsed.  Finally, they decided to brave the water.

Boy was that a mistake… for Erin that is.  She couldn’t get Thomas out of the water.  Oh wait she brought out the kites.  Erin assisted Thomas with his kite. Terry wasn’t having as much luck, maybe he should have asked Erin for some help too.  But it was pretty funny watching Terry and Ceasar running up and down the beach with the flying piggy kite.

Terry dug a REALLY deep hole that Thomas was able to sit in.  Oh but wait it gets better.  While Thomas was in the really deep, Ceasar and Sierra decided they were going to bury him.  Once Thomas was buried the fun began. Thomas was then turned into a merMAID.  We even have pictures.  We decided that is was time for more water action.  We played in the water until it was time to go back to camp.

When we arrived back at camp it was time to start dinner.  Wieners anyone??? To end a great day we had some smores before bedtime.
